Amherst Women in Science (AWIS) Mentoring Program
A peer-mentoring program that pairs junior and senior Amherst students majoring in STEM fields who identify as women with freshmen and sophomore women beginning their journey towards majoring in STEM. In partnership with the Women's and Gender Center at Amherst College.
Being Human in STEM
This initiative began as an independent topics course at Amherst run by Sheila Jaswal, Associate Professor of Chemistry, but has expanded to include groups of students, faculty, and staff re-imagining STEM education and mentoring at Amherst.
Middle School Microbiology Outreach Program
A new student group at Amherst for the 2017-18 school year that will design and implement new science and microbiology activities for local groups such as Girl Scouts and middle school groups, in collaboration with Megan Lyster from the Center for Community Engagement.
